Petra Laaper zooms in with her sculptures on a sensory experience. Often her work manifests itself as a body in space, then as an attribute for an action, an object she wants to pick up, hold up and try. She shows simple forms that are recognizable but have no clear function and raise a question about their intention. Her work is an ongoing investigation into the body in space.

Petra Laaper is a visual artist who lives and works in Rotterdam. Graduated from the WDKA in Rotterdam in Sculpture/visual arts. Her artistic practise combines making textile sculptures and installations, using patterns and fabrics, – and a simplified version of performance art, captured in photography and stop motion film.
She also studied Interior design at the HKU in Utrecht and improved her knowledge in the field of ceramics at the European Ceramic Workcentre in Den Bosch (Sundaymorning@EKWC). She exhibits her work nationally and internationally and creates various assignments for semi-public space.
